My friend Gail got tired of buying kitty litter, so she came up with a way to not only get free litter but save on the recycling fees her city charges to pick up recyclables. She starts by shredding papers she would normally have shredded anyway such as bank statements, bank credit card offers, etc., then she mixes in some shredded newspaper. When she first introduced this natural kitty litter to her cat she mixed the shredded paper with her normal kitty litter. Now, she just fills the kitty litter box with her shredded recycled paper and empties it daily. Brilliant!

Recycled Pen Bud Vase
Here’s an interesting way to use a recycled pen. Start by removing the guts from a dried-up pen. Firmly place the cap back on the pen. Fill the pen with water and slip a flower into your new pen vase. Since the cap prevents the vase from standing upright you can place the vase in your pencil cup, your toothbrush cup, or any other object that will hold it upright. Or you could use a blob of clay to hold the pen upright.
If you don’t have a fresh bloom, skip the water and pop in a silk flower.

Old Door = New Tray
An old cabinet door can be made over into a new tray. Remove all hardware, fill holes with wood filler, sand and paint. Attach a set of drawer pulls to the two short ends of the tray and you’re set.
