Baked Tortilla Chips

When I buy tortillas inevitably there are broken or torn ones that wouldn’t work for a quesadilla or wrap. That’s when it’s time for homemade tortilla chips!

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

I cut the tortillas into strips or wedges depending on how they are already broken and place them on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Then I use a spray bottle filled with water to mist the top of the chips, followed with salt. Place baking sheet in oven for 10 – 17 minutes. Take them out when the chips are crispy. You might have to take some chips out and return the tray to finish the rest of the chips.

Besides the satisfaction of not throwing out perfectly good food these chips are so much healthier than the store-bought chips. They’re practically fat-free and seasoned just the way you like them. They’re far superior in taste to any bagged chip. Frankly the store-bought baked chips taste like cardboard (to me) while these homemade chips taste better than deep-fried chips. Okay, maybe not better, but a close second.

Pick up some salsa to go with your chips!

About Kat

I started this blog to share with you all the results of years of turning trash into treasures. Hopefully I'll spark some new creative thoughts and if that happens I hope that you'll share your discoveries and together we’ll build a blog that will singlehandedly reduce global warming and save the world! Okay, maybe that’s a grand goal but we should be able to at least downsize our own trash output.
