No need to spend money on a bench press. Just rescue an old broomstick from the trash, cut off the bristles, and tie weighted socks to both ends. Or if you have any old iron pipes lying around cut them to the desired length and use without weights.
Make a simple stick horse using an old broom handle and a sock. Families.com has published an excellent project sheet for how to make a sock horse. Click on over and check it out.
Insert an old broom handle into the soil near a large plant/tree and tie the plant to it for support. If needed you may want to taper the end of the handle to slip more easily into the soil.
