In keeping with the spirit of The Irish Attic we advocate using expired baking soda for the following suggestions.
Antacid
Stir ½ teaspoon baking soda into ½ cup water and drink up. Note: do not use more than ½ teaspoon baking soda.
Drain Cleaner
Pour ½ cup baking soda down the drain, then slowly pour ½ cup white vinegar in after it. Cover and let sit for five minutes. Remove the cover and pour one gallon boiling water down the drain.
Exfoliater
Gently massage clean face with a mixture of three parts baking soda and one part water, avoiding the eye area. Rinse well.
Pan Scrubber
Sprinkle baked on food with baking soda and let sit for five minutes. Scrub and rinse.
Toothpaste
Brush teeth with a toothbrush dipped in water and then into baking soda.
Stain Remover
Remove stains from enameled cast iron with a soft nylon brush dipped in water then into baking soda.
Remove stains from stainless steel with a soft cloth moistened with a solution of four tablespoons baking soda dissolved in a quart of water.
